If you have recently moved, congratulation on doing so successfully. But if you thought the work is over, it is not just yet. You have to tell everyone about the new address and it’s not just family and friends that need to know.

There is a long list of organizations that need to know about the change. They are the ones keeping everything working behind the scenes and letting them know in time to help the wheels work. In this blog, we will give you a checklist of all who need to know about the new address and how to let me know.

Organisations that need to know about the new address

A simple email or a call will usually do the trick but we always prefer the latter. It lowers any chances of making a typo. But it's important to know to who you have to send the email so let's get right into it:

Career-wise

Your employer

Your employers will need your new address for new contact details as well as to process your payroll.

Inland revenue

Inland revenue will need to know your new address for taxes. You can easily update this information on gov.uk.

It is extremely important to update your National Insurance Number because this information is needed to identify you by the government.

The Local Authorities

  • The council tax
  • Electoral roll
  • Department of work and pensions (if you receive money from the government)
